Administrator/Fundraiser Role description


TITLE: Administrator/fundraiser (on a self-employed basis)

LOCATION: Home-based

HOURS: 8 hours per week for an initial six month period when the success of the role with be assessed. The post is funded for six month’s after which it will be self-funded. The six- month period starts 1st April 2010 and ends 30th September 2010.

Reports to: LASG Board

Remuneration: £160 per eight-hour day (gross) paid on monthly submission of invoice

Expenses All reasonable agreed expenses will be reimbursed on submission of invoices and receipts

Main purpose of the post: With the Board to raise the profile of the Latex Allergy Support Group nationally and internationally; to raise funds for the group and to self-fund the role; to administer and maintain the website on a regular basis and to produce and distribute public information on NRLA

PERSON SPECIFICATION

In order to perform this role to the required standard, the post holder will need to demonstrate:

Qualification and Experience

• No specific qualifications are relevant to the role but a broad and deep knowledge of Natural Rubber Latex Allergy is essential
• Educated to degree level

Knowledge and Skills
• Fund raising skills
• Broad and deep knowledge of Natural Rubber Latex Allergy
• Ability to manage time effectively
• Knowledge of dealing sensitively with others
• Good verbal and written communication skills

Aptitudes and Personal Characteristics
• Motivation skills must be evident
• Pragmatic and decisive
• Proactive and able to find solutions to problems
• Ability to work with all levels of regulatory and advisory organisations
• Ability to work with the media
• Demonstrates the ability to work under own initiative

IT
• The post-holder must be competent with a range of IT systems and able to manage the website
• The post-holder will use their own computer system and telephone for communication and will be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses

ROLE
Communication and Liaison
• Working with Board, members and relevant others, to ensure that LASG has a profile at all levels
• Communicating with media and to ensure comment from LASG and Press releases are produced relevant to current issues
• Undertake any other duties identified by the Board, which leads to the enhancement and development of the Latex Allergy Support Group.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for own professional development, ensuring management, clinical and technical skills and knowledge are updated and enhanced.

• Raise the profile of the Latex Allergy Support Group nationally and internationally

• Raise funds for the group and to self-fund the role

• Administer and maintain the website on a regular basis

• Produce and distribute public information on NRLA
